Etudes d'évaluation des risques à Vincennes 2001-2004 : approche déployée pour estimer les risques sanitaires en rapport avec l'environnement d'un quartier au regard de son passé industriel

Abstract : Environmental investigations and studies have been carried out following the report of a cluster of cancers in children, in a part of the town of Vincennes partially located on a former industrial site and in the vicinity of a hospital waste incinerator. The aim was to assess the health risk in excess for the inhabitants of the neighborhood, in relation with one or several potential pollution sources specific to this urban area. This paper describes the approach used to answer that problematic, and discusses its innovative aspect. The initial goal, and the financial means engaged, lead to the development of an innovative approach, which proved appropriate. It crossed two approaches, two cultures, "public health" on one side and "environment" on the other side, which shall work ever closer in the new problematic of environmental health.
