Inter-laboratory campaign mercury measurements
Abstract
Emission measurements of gaseous and particulates pollutants have to be carried out according to enforced regulation and measurement standards. Measured concentrations have to be given with their associated uncertainty, the value of which depends on the measurement device, process instability and implementation of the sampling and analytical part of the method. Inter-laboratory campaigns allow determining the uncertainty attached to the measurement methods, by calculating its repeatability and reproducibility. In addition these campaigns display the major influence of some of the parameters of measurement implementation and allow improving the practice. Thus, a great guarantee is brought to results obtained during measurements carried out for regulatory purposes, upon which plants owners and regulators rely. The aim of this work was to organise a inter-laboratory campaign related to mercury measurements according to the new European standard EN 13211, in order to determine the actual repeatability and reproducibility of the method implemented by 10 French laboratories.
