Effects of radiofrequencies on memory and attention in rats

Résumé

In this project we evaluated the effects of sub-chronic (2 months) and chronic (6 months) exposure to 900 MHz GSM radiofrequency (SAR = 1.5 and 6 W/kg) on the spatial memory and attention in rats and on the biomarker Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP). No adverse effect was observed on spatial memory performances, while a decrease of attention was obtained after the 6W/kg chronic exposure. Both exposures induced a reversible increase of GFAP expression. This study suggests a lack of persistent chronic effect at a 1.5 W/kg- SAR and a persistent effect after a chronic 6 W/kg exposure in rats
