Optimized Layout and Roadway support planning with integrated intelligent software

Abstract : With declining ore grades, exhaustion of near surface reserves and rising labour costs the underground coal and metal mining industry in the European Union requires efficient planning tools that will improve its performance since mechanisation has almost approached 100% so that machine development will only give marginal improvements in performance. Major improvements can only be achieved by the re-development of the whole production process through careful and precise mine planning that will utilise simulation and production system's analysis.
