Evaluation des émissions de nanoparticules à partir d'un produit fini : étude de faisabilité

Abstract : Nanoparticles are suspected to cause adverse effects on human health. As a consequence, increasing attention is paid to issues related to potential exposure of workers to nanoparticles. However, to our knowledge, no assessments to consumer exposure were conducted up to now. New experimental set-ups are needed in order to study product aging as well as to measure and to characterise emission of nanoparticles. Nanoledge asked INERIS to carry out a preliminary study on such a set-up. A glove-box has been equipped to grind and to drill materials under controlled atmosphere. The total number concentration and the size distribution have been measured using an electrical low pressure impactor (ELPI). Two similar products -one made with, one made without nanoparticles- have been compared. Emission factors have been calculated and the results are commented
