La maîtrise des risques technologiques comme indicateur de développement durable des nouvelles filières énergétiques : une réflexion assise sur le cas des biocarburants

Abstract : In all industrial sectors, putting industrial risks and environmental issues under appropriate control is essential, all over the lifetime of products and technologies. In particular, this goal is of prime importance for emerging technologies or for those technologies that are sharply moving forwards according to technical progress. It reveals even liable to condition sustainability of commercial development, as much as more traditional components usually integrated in the sustainable development concept. This paper is a contribution to justify this point of view, by an analysis of the booming biofuel industry, taking account of general background, technical and economical factors, and through a focus on the typology of safety issues pertaining to that sector. We also explain the advantages of electing safety criteria as component indices for the measurement of sustainability versus time
