Installations classées pour la protection de l'environnement (ICPE) - Établissements Seveso

Abstract : The scale of the accident, which took place on July 10, 1976, in the Italian town of Seveso led European states to adopt a common policy on major industrial risks prevention. Thus, a few years later, a directive, called "Seveso" (then Seveso 2 and now Seveso 3) requires states and companies to identify the risks associated with certain hazardous industrial activities and to take the necessary measures to deal with it. This article presents the main content of this European legislation and its transposition into French law.
