Indicateurs de sécurité dans l’industrie chimique. Réflexions et inspirations issues d’autres activités a risques majeurs

Abstract : Process Safety Indicators (PSI) are key management tools when it comes to safety. Still, important limitations are pointed out when used in process industry. By analyzing the underlying models associated to PSI, we demonstrate the significant influence exerted by occupational safety although its determinants may heavily differ from process safety ones. In order to overcome this limitation, we carried a comparative analysis exploring various fields ranging from nuclear power plant to road and railway safety. Accordingly, we demonstrate how these various fields have developed specific safety models allowing the identification of context adapted safety indicators. Elaborating upon these fruitful experiences, we suggest a set of good practices and lessons learned with the aim of inspiring safety managers in the filed of PSIs. However, it is worth reminding that these suggestions should not be understood as recipes to be duplicated; they are rather inspirations to be contextualized and discussed in each case.
