Vulnérabilité, conséquences des aléas accidentels et naturels sur les biens

Abstract : Population growth constrains the society to build in areas that have been avoided earlier because they can be impacted by different natural hazards (for instance, earthquakes, floods, storms, grounds movements, landslides). Beyond the knowledge of these phenomena, it became necessary to assess and reduce the vulnerability of structures to such hazards. It is in this context that INERIS uses physical and numerical modeling in order to analyze specifically the impact of ground movements on buildings. This study is performed in order to propose some methods to reduce the vulnerability of structures. This is achieved by the way of testing several proposed technical solutions and determining the more important parameters driving their effectiveness. Further developments are mainly based on a small scale physical testing apparatus which allows the study of the structure subjected to several and complex natural loadings.
